This week at school we had a puppet show. We made Rajasthani puppets. First, we finished making our puppets. Next, we watched Bollywood dancing. (We also danced to them.) After, we made a dance routine and practiced. Then, we finally had our concert!!!

In math we learned different ways to show one number. Example: the expanded form of 675 is 600+70+5=675.

In Language Arts we learned the 3 “theres”. (There is, also their and they’ re or they are).  We also did “Hamburger Writing” where we wrote our own words about why the animal we researched should or shouldn’t be in the zoo.  We wrote a topic sentence, 3 details or reasons, and a concluding sentence.

Miss Stephanie (our guest teacher) came in again. She talked about glass man. When you have a glass man moment you fight or get upset at the smallest problems.

We finished “The One and Only Ivan.”  Ms. Rutland cried when we got to the sad part when Ivan had to go to the zoo.    The book had a very happy ending. You should read the book!
We read the books “One” and “My Secret Bully.”  We talked about bullies so we can stand up against bullies.
We went to Iris (iris.cbe.ab.ca).  We wrote about how we learn best in school and our goals and the strategies.
We learned about the place value in math.
For Social Studies, M. taught us more about India and we watched a video about India and Peru.

This week at school we are making Rajasthani puppets because we have a play on the 26th of November.  The puppets are from India.  Every skirt means a new generation.  (Say a grandfather had one, then he died, he would give the puppet to his son or daughter.  They would make another layer of the skirt.  Then when they died, they would give it to their son or daughter and they would add another layer of a skirt on top.)  When they are done with their puppet (because the puppet is worn out) the family would put it on a piece of wood in a holy river and say some lovely words to it, such as “thank you for being my hard-working puppet and the money you made for me.  You were the best puppet.”

On pizza lunch M.’s mom came. We had cake pops on E.’s birthday and for J’.s birthday we have cupcakes.
