Ralph Klein Park Field Trip

On a beautiful sunny day at the end of September, both Grade 3 classes headed off to Ralph Klein Park for a field trip to learn about animal adaptations.  This state-of-the-art man-made wetland was created to help clean the water from the Bow River.  Students explored some of the adaptations of bears; dog and cats; hoofed animals such as deer and moose; birds; and rodents such as beavers and muskrats using models of skeletons and pelts of fur or hair.  Students explored their own creative side sketching a made-up animal with adaptations they created.  Finally, we took a walk outdoors to further explore the constructed wetland and some of the homes animals have created there.
