T.W.A.S. #9
Dec 6-11
This week at school we had buddies. First we read Christmas
books to our buddies , then we
did a scavenger hunt looking for Christmas items. In school we are writing
Christmas comic strips, the comic strips are about Santa’s reindeer are sick,
on strike or on vacation and Santa has to use different animals. In math we did
skip counting by 5, 10, 25 and 100 for numbers between 0-1000. This week we
started our door decorating, banana is the code word for ELF ON THE SHELF. We
think were going to win.

Teacher add-in:
Students were read two sample stories of Santa replacing his
reindeer with other animals (“Who Will Guide My Sleigh Tonight?” and “Dinosaur
Christmas”. They brainstormed their own
list of animals and why they wouldn’t be able to pull the sleigh. We then used books from the library (and
student’s homes) that showed us how to draw animals step-by-step. We discussed how our comics would be
assessed, focusing on our ideas, conventions (spelling and grammar) and
illustrations. Students are working on
their good copies and we are looking forward to sharing these in the future!
